"tHE eARTH eDUCATION" tREE

(excerpts from chapter six)

Our structural symbol is based upon a magnificent tree that lives in northern New Zealand. It is one of the largest living things on earth, and its unusual appearance to a North American or European eye reminds us of the international scope of the institute.

Now that we have introduced you to our path perhaps you will be interested in establishing a local branch of our international tree. It only takes two or three people.

Of course, the first step is to become a member of The Institute for Earth Education and get more "grounded" in what we are all about. Next, the coordinator of a local branch must also be a part of our worldwide volunteer staff; so someone will need to consider becoming an Associate representative of the institute. This is an important role that allows us to keep in touch with what's happening and provide the appropriate support and guidance.

Local branches serve as catalysts for earth education in an area. Instead of meetings they have working sessions in which they focus on building programs, experiencing the natural world, and living more lightly on the earth. If you would like more information, please contact us for a Local Branch packet.
